About Us

Founded in 2003 by veteran literary agent Greg Johnson, WordServe has represented over 2,500 books across fiction and nonfiction.

Two Decades of Literary Excellence

WordServe Literary Agency was founded with a simple mission: to connect authors with publishers who share their vision. What started as a one-person operation has grown into a respected agency representing over 200 authors.

Our team brings decades of combined experience in publishing, editorial, and marketing. We understand both the creative and business sides of publishing, which allows us to advocate effectively for our authors.

We believe every person has a story worth telling. Whether you’re a first-time author or an established voice, we’re committed to helping you reach readers who need your message.

Meet Our Agents

Our team combines deep industry knowledge with a genuine passion for helping authors succeed.

Greg Johnson

Greg Johnson

President & Literary Agent

Greg Johnson has been in publishing for more than 25 years. Before becoming a full-time literary agent in 1994, he wrote and published 20 works of nonfiction with traditional publishers, as well as being an editor for a teenage boys magazine for five years. In his years as an agent, he has personally represented more than 2,300 books and negotiated more than 1,800 contracts to over 85 publishing houses. While Greg’s stable of authors is near full, he will occasionally take on new authors and new projects. Along with representing a broad array of adult nonfiction and fiction, Greg works with pastors and speakers who have important and compelling messages. He has also carved a niche by representing military nonfiction/memoir for those who have served our country from WWII until today.
Emma Fulenwider

Emma Fulenwider

Literary Agent

Emma Fulenwider is a literary agent and book junkie. From reading with a flashlight under the covers at the age of seven, her lifelong friendship with books has accumulated a Journalism degree at Cal Poly, a print magazine with Best Version Media, and a literary press with the Birren Center for Guided Autobiography. She believes that writing is a form of self-care, publishing is about serving others, and yes you have to have a platform. A lay counselor and TEDx speaker, she brings a wealth of enthusiasm and energy to her role as a literary agent. Emma likes working with thought leaders called to contribute their respectful insights into the problems we’re facing. She’s looking for adult nonfiction books that are nerdy, helpful, and true.
Nick Harrison

Nick Harrison

Literary Agent

Nick Harrison has worked in the book industry for more than 30 years. He began his career working for the public library while attending San Jose State University where he graduated with a degree in English. Since then Nick has owned or managed both Christian and children’s bookstores, written articles for several prominent publications, and has authored ten books. For fifteen years Nick served as a senior editor at Harvest House Publishers where he worked with several well-known fiction and non-fiction authors. Nick is interested in representing authors of well-written fiction and non-fiction. For fiction, he prefers character-driven historical fiction, but will look at contemporary literary fiction and some genre fiction. For non-fiction, Nick looks for books by authors with a strong platform.
Keely Boeving

Keely Boeving

Senior Agent

Keely Boeving is a Senior Agent with WordServe Literary. After receiving her B.A. in English from the University of Virginia, she began her career in New York working at Oxford University Press, where she acquired books for the trade history list. She moved back to Colorado in 2014 and began her own freelance editorial company before joining WordServe. Keely is looking for well-researched nonfiction books in the areas of health and wellness, business, parenting and family life, literature and the arts, and the intersection of faith and culture. For the Christian market, she is seeking books in Christian living, spiritual formation, theology, and women’s topics. She represents a small stable of children’s book authors as well, but is not currently accepting new children’s projects.
Ellen Scott

Ellen Scott

Associate Literary Agent

Ellen Scott is an Associate Literary Agent at WordServe. Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Ellen started her publishing career at Encounter Books immediately after graduating from The King’s College in New York City, then moved to her first agent desk at David Black Literary Agency. In addition to her work at WordServe, Ellen works in youth ministry for a church in Brooklyn.

Ellen is primarily interested in religious nonfiction, particularly Biblical analysis, art criticism, essays, material for youth (middle & high schoolers), and faith & culture. Recent favorites include MY BODY IS NOT A PRAYER REQUEST by Dr. Amy Kenny, THE EVANGELICAL IMAGINATION by Karen Swallow Prior, READING WHILE BLACK by Esau McCaulley, and VAN GOGH HAS A BROKEN HEART by Russ Ramsey. Be sure to query if your work counters the purity culture movement, or is rooted in advocacy for the disabled from an orthodox Christian perspective.

In fiction, Ellen is drawn to generational, character-driven, Christ-haunted novels that explore recovery or change through complicated characters. She loves Joan Didion’s memoirs and Zadie Smith’s dialogue. She wishes she’d published TRUST by Hernan Diaz, NEVER LET ME GO by Kazuo Ishiguro, GILEAD by Marilynne Robinson, and SOMEONE by Alice McDermontt. Be sure to query if you’re drawing inspiration from a Greek tragedy in your plot and/or characters.

Ellen lives with her husband in Brooklyn, New York. She can frequently be found reading books and staring at dogs in other people’s tote bags on the subway.
