Jesse L. Nelson

Dr. Jesse L. Nelson, a rising leader in evangelical circles and the African American church, completed his doctorate under the supervision of Dr. Robert Smith Jr., author of Doctrine That Dances. He is currently pursuing his PhD at Stellenbosch University. Dr. Nelson has published book reviews and articles in the Journal of the Evangelical Homiletics Society, Preaching Magazine, and the African American Pulpit. He has presented papers and led study groups at the Annual Conference of the Evangelical Homiletics Society.

Dr. Nelson is a pastor and passionate preacher who exemplifies a mastery of unveiling the thrust of the biblical text from its ancient times, culture, and audience into a clear, relevant, and refreshing message to the contemporary audience. As a national leader, Dr. Nelson serves on the board of directors of the Evangelical Homiletics Society and shares insights from his twenty plus years of ministry through the Contemporary Pastoral Ministry Network, an online community of pastors, professors, and ministers. Dr. Nelson trains pastors in Haiti and the Dominican Republic. He serves as a seminary adjunct professor and instructor for the Emmaus Biblical Training Center.

He is married to his high school sweetheart, Catesha. They have two children, Jacey and Carey.
