Betsy Duffey and Laurie Myers

Betsy Duffey and Laurie Myers have been writing for over twenty years, publishing more than thirty-five children’s novels. They have published both individually and together with their mother, Newbery winner Betsy Byars.

Their books have won state awards, been on numerous state Master lists, been honored as ALA notable book, Junior Library Guild selection, Bank Street list of Best Children’s Books, Parents’ Guide to Children’s Media Award, been on the IRA Teachers’ Choice, Parents’ Choice, and Children’s Choice lists, and been nominated for the Crown Award.

Laurie and her husband of thirty-eight years live in Augusta, GA where she is active in her local church and faith community. Laurie helped begin an urban Christian school for low-income families and serves on their Board as Treasurer. She teaches Bible studies and has spoken in elementary schools across the country, sharing with students her passion for writing.

Betsy and her husband of thirty-five years live in Atlanta, GA. As a licensed counselor she worked for four years with homeless women in Atlanta performing individual and group therapy, often using writing as a tool for healing. Over the years Betsy has spoken at hundreds of elementary schools and has shared her ideas about healing and story with women’s groups.

Laurie and Betsy write to express their faith through their words and use their talents for the glory of God.
