It's important to have at least a working knowledge of the whole publishing field if you want to make a career out of writing. Click on Industry Links for some links that will allow you to subscribe to services (oftentimes for free) that will educate you about the landscape of books being published within the industry.
Christian Publisher Links
The CBA is not a large industry, though there are about 30+ active publishing houses. Click on Christian Publisher Links above to see a list of the house websites whereby you can gather information about: recent titles, backlist, submission guidelines and their own unique publisher news.
General Market Publishers
The same is true for general market houses... an author needs to become familiar with what publishers are publishing, how they promote authors, the variety of imprints each family of houses actually has, their own unique submissions guidelines, etc. If you're not able to get out into bookstores very often, this is a great way to familiarize yourself with what is hot at each house.
