Growing up in rural southeast Nebraska, Beth honed her ability to imagine and write through a stockpile of books and magazines. Her family lived 60 miles from the nearest mall and could only get CBS on television, so Beth learned to explore the world through reading and writing. A 1981 journalism and agriculture honors graduate of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, Beth skipped writing for "Farmwife Magazine" and instead joined the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ International and worked in their magazine and advertising departments in Southern California.
Moving in 1993 to Colorado Springs, Colorado, Beth left behind her work as an editor for Worldwide Challenge magazine and helped launch Clarity, a new women's magazine produced by NavPress. Later she worked as an advertising copywriter for Current Inc., and in January 1997 stepped into directing MacBeth Communications, her writing, editing, and media consulting company.
Interrogated by Communist soldiers and threatened at knifepoint while on assignment, Beth knows how to deliver exceptional copy while enduring intense pressures. Beth has documented stories in seventeen countries and her journalistic work has garnered five Evangelical Press Association Awards, including an award for investigative reporting on the plight of radiation-poisoned Byelorussian children and at-risk prostitutes in the Philippines. Beth is also a seminar speaker and trained lay counselor.
